Deborah Lambert (nee Dalziell)
She has a strong desire to explore and paint on location, usually staying in DOC or farm Station huts or even tenting. Sometimes Debbie flies inland by helicopter to remote spots but more often she drives her (4WD) truck which has been specially set up, accompanied by husband or painting buddies to paint plein air.
Debbie chooses to paint in both oils and watercolors depending on how she wants to interpret the scene.
After years of teaching both Primary and Secondary students, Debbie now chooses to teach painting skills and techniques to adult students Debbie has been guest tutor with many different art groups throughout the country as well as teaching in Ashburton. For her, the ultimate Art lesson is taking students outdoors and painting “en plein air”, so they understand and feel the connection with their surrounds, hearing the music of nature. Painting plein air enables the artist to use all senses to paint their truth, capturing emotions and connections. Painting bares the soul.
All Debbie’s artworks are completely original and are either painted “alla prima” on location, or in her studio at home from sketches and photos she has taken.
Over the past 20+ years Debbie has received many awards for her works which are in private collections both nationally and internationally.
