ANGELA MAXWELL
Angela Maxwell Bio.
Born and mostly raised in the Manawatu, Angela has spent her life involved with farming, living on sheep and cattle farms around NZ and riding horses.
Angela now resides in Auckland.
Angelas love of painting began at an early age with her subject matter being the farm horses and the other animals on the farm.
At 5 years old Angela had her crayon drawings hanging in the headmasters office. Angelas Mother encouraged her talent for art and presented her with a set of faber-castell pastels and then with a set of oil paints.
Angela won several art competitions in her early school years.
Angela pursued a career in nursing.
In 2001 Angela decided it was time to follow her passion for painting once more but on a serious level by seeking tuition with professional artists, attending workshops with artists such as Ben Ho and Peter Jean Caley to refine her work.
Angela has won multiple prizes for her work including a prestigious Art Award at the Royal Easter Show in 2017.
Angela is an active member of Art groups in Auckland, including Auckland East Art Society and the Bartizans group.
Angelas artworks have been sold throughout New Zealand and overseas to the UK, USA and Australia.
Angela specialises in oil, using realism and a slightly impressionistic style. She likes to capture light and movement in her paintings and draws inspiration from her background which is reflected in her livestock paintings. The other theme she is passionate about are ladies in the street scenes or settings that have a touch of romanticism or that classical feel to them.
