Roy Dickison was an Otago born artist who focused on traditional paintings of landscape, figures and still life. He studied at the Dunedin School of Art and gained a diploma at the Canterbury School of art. After World War Two he spent two years exhibiting in England. Upon returning to New Zealand he worked as a teacher at Southland Technical College then as the head of the Otago Polytechnic School of Art for twelve years. He was a member of the Otago Art Society for 60 years, joining in 1938.
Roy lived in Kelvin Heights Queenstown for many years and sold many of his amazing watercolours and oil paintings through Central Art Gallery.
An incredibly popular Artist and a wonderful man.
