Lee-Ann Dixon

Originally from Marlborough, I have been in Nelson since leaving school. I graduated from NMIT in 2005 with a Bachelor of Visual Art. Since then I have been juggling my art practice with raising a family and working.

My work has been an ongoing theme of motherhood and domesticity only having the head space to to paint what I was living.

Now my children are older I have time to reflect on my own childhood and identity.

Growing up in Blenheim in the 1970s was sometimes beautiful, simple and sometimes harsh.

I work on recycled objects mostly trays, this was born from seeing my late mother's collection of “important” treasures in the china cabinet.
