Mark Zhu

Born in 1963 Chongqing China.

Started to draw and paint at the age of 6 under the guidance of private art teachers for 10 years.

 1979-1990

Graduated from Chongqing University and ZJ academy of fine art, worked as a designer for a glass industry in China. Participated in many local art exhibitions and won several top art awards.

 1990-1999

Travelled and painted around the world, mostly in Europe. Studied the old master's works in museums and galleries there and also painted life portraits during the years in famous spots for artists such as Montmartre, Paris.

Joined in 20 Group Plein-Air Exhibitions in Barcelona, Spain.

 1999-

Settling in Queenstown, Mark has taken part in the Location Art Exhibition each year, winning second prize in 2003 and people’s choice in 2005 as well as public choice in 2006.

 Combining strict academic training and over 50 years of painting experiences, Mark paints a wide range of subjects from portraits, figurative, landscapes to wildlife and abstract.

Mark's works are incredibly popular and have a huge following both Nationally and Internationally.
